We’re more than just a wool shop, no matter your skill level, we offer a few handy extras to get you started or to keep you going with your project. We offer services to make things simple, more flexible and more accessible – so you can focus on the fun part of being creative!
Visit our high street shop
We have an incredible space full of beautiful yarns, patterns, books and accessories. We even have a sofa area where you can take your time browsing our patterns. We keep up to date with the latest from suppliers such as King Cole, James C Brett, Baa Ram Ewe, Opal, Stylecraft, Sirdar, Knit-Pro, Clover and more. We also stock the go-to favourites too, and if there’s something we don’t we, we’ll do our best to get it for you. It’s the perfect place to come and have a squish!
Our opening hours are Monday – Friday 10am-4pm, Saturday 9.30am – 4.30pm, Sunday closed.

If the shop is closed, or you aren’t close by to visit, then why not grab a cuppa and browse through our online shop to choose your next project. We offer a click and collect or delivery service, just choose at check out.

Electronic gift vouchers can be purchased through our online shop and printed or emailed to the gift recipient.
Physical gift vouchers can also be purchased at the shop.

Love a surprise, but still want to get exactly what you’ll use? Our Gift List is the perfect in-between!
If you know what you’d love for your birthday, special occasion or Christmas, simply pop into the shop and fill out one of our Gift List cards. Choose your favourite yarns, needles, books or accessories, then let friends and family know they can visit The Wool Cellar to pick something from your personalised list!
We’ll keep your list safely in the shop, and mark off what has been purchased, so you won’t receive any duplicates – just a lovely gift you’ll truly enjoy!

Ball Winding
Just drop your skein in and we’ll do it for you – into a neat and beautiful ready-to-use yarn cake, so you can get straight to the hooks and needles without the tangles.
Cake making is available at the shop:
Monday & Tuesday 10am – 3.00pm
Thursdays and Fridays 10am – 3.00pm
Each skein is £2 each to wind, unless you’ve brought it from us, then it’s free!
We may be able to do it while you wait, else it’ll be ready the next day.
Spinning Wheel Hire
Thinking about spinning but not ready to buy a wheel, or just want to give it a try?
You can hire one from us for just £10 per day plus deposit.
It’s a great way to try it out before committing, or just to enjoy spinning without having the cost or needing storage space of owning your own.
The Kiwi 3 is Ashford’s most popular wheel for new and experienced spinners. It’s portable, and folds away into a carry pack, so really easy to collect and drop off at the shop.
It comes with full instructions, and there are plenty of links to Ashford’s help and video guides to give you a hand as well should you need it.
When you pop in to collect, why not treat yourself to one of the braids from our Guest Yarn wall to get you started!
Disclaimer: spinning is very addictive, and can cause instant stress relief!
You can hire the Ashford Kiwi 3 for just £10 per day (with a maximum of 10 days at any one time). A deposit will be required on collection.
